Welcome to Jo Woodcock Resource, dedicated to British actress Jo Woodcock! This is the only and approved fansite for Jo. You may recognise Jo from her performances in Land Girls, Powder or True Love. This site aims to bring you all the latest news, images and media surrounding her career.
I hope everyone managed to catch Death in Paradise on Tuesday? Although Jo’s role was a bit smaller in this one it was lovely to see her in something a bit different – I loved the hair styling too, very summery! Check out these screencaps in the gallery.
A small tidbit of exciting news today, Jo is getting ready to film an episode for a BBC series called ‘Death in Paradise. I can’t tell you which episode just yet but it sounds like it’s going to be rather interesting and takes Jo off to the very exotic Guadeloupe for filming.
Keep checking back for more updates as they appear!
A nice little update today. Firstly, I found a little video interview from during the promotional period of Jo’s film Powder which is short but cute.
I also have found a nice little review of Jo’s performance in the very recent True Love. Although reviews for the show itself are mixed, everything I’ve seen about Jo’s performance are very positive – she gave a fantastic portrayal!
This episode is neatly framed by Adrian finding love over the internet, a modern day phenomenon that is ridiculed slightly by his fellow taxi driving friend who suggests meeting girls in pubs, the old fashioned way.
Once his Hong Kong girlfriend finally comes to Britain, it is not the culture difference that threatens to divide the pair but the jealous feelings of his daughter’s friend. If anyone had uncomfortable feelings with the age difference and boundaries being crossed in terms of teacher-pupil relationships in Holly, then the feelings of abject despair that followed as the viewers were shown the very poor passes made by the young girl and the near destruction she causes after Adrian does the right thing by rebuffing her advances was chilling and supremely acted by both David Morrissey and Jo Woodcock.
With another big thank you to the absolutely fabulous Tayna, I have added the first (and so far only) official still from True Love. We also know that Jo is due to appear in episodes 1, 3 and 5 – therefore make sure you tune into the first episode on Sunday night at 10.25pm!
Jo is also featured in a preview clip released on the BBC website here, unfortunately it wasn’t working for me but some you may have more luck!
The official trailer for Jo’s new production was recently shown for the first time on the BBC. Unfortunately Jo isn’t featured but I though you might like to see the clip anyway!
Don’t forget to catch Jo between June 18th and 22nd!
Jo’s new project Love Life has now been given it’s own page on IMDb.com and we have some more information about the show. Jo is to play a character called Lorraine and the program will air in 2012. A more detailed synopsis has also been added.
Set in Margate, each episode, created by actor improvisation, acts as a self-contained story, though all five stories are set in the same place and time and roughly interlink: A married man is torn between his family and his first love; a female teacher develops feelings for a female pupil; a middle aged woman ponders how to deal with stale marriage and cheating husband; a new father experiences love at first sight with a younger woman; and a divorcée searching for true love deals with an obsessive stalker.
There is a little confusion over whether Jo’s new show is called True Love or Love Life, but it has begun filming in Margate recently. Doctor Who actor David Tennant was spotted on set and we have been given an interesting snippet of news on the films style.
The Dr Who actor was on the set of Love Life, a new drama for BBC One written and directed by the award-winning Dominic Savage – who grew up in the town.
The series, Love Life, represents a first for the BBC as the drama is made through improvisation.
Among other big names filming in Thanet were Billie Piper and Jenny Agutter.
Hopefully more news will follow shortly, this sounds like an interesting production so far!
First of all I would like to wish Jo a very happy belated birthday for the 9th September! I’d also like to congratulate her on landing a brand new role alongside David Tennant! Jo will play David Tennant’s daughter Lorraine in True Love, produced by Dominic Savages.
For Dr Who fans, this role will also reunite David Tennant with his former co-star Billie Piper! The production will be shown on BBC One, more information will follow as I find it.
