A brand new and very pretty headshot has been uploaded by Jo’s management, they have also provided us with a fanmail address which I have posted below.

With thanks to Jo’s cast mate on twitter, I have added a picture of Jo posing alongside her cast and crew mates on the set of Love Life.
With thanks to Kaya Scodelario Web I have added some pictures of Jo on the set of her newest production Love Life.
We also now know that the next series of Land Girls (yes, there’s another one!) should be released next month.
Jo’s new project Love Life has now been given it’s own page on IMDb.com and we have some more information about the show. Jo is to play a character called Lorraine and the program will air in 2012. A more detailed synopsis has also been added.
Set in Margate, each episode, created by actor improvisation, acts as a self-contained story, though all five stories are set in the same place and time and roughly interlink: A married man is torn between his family and his first love; a female teacher develops feelings for a female pupil; a middle aged woman ponders how to deal with stale marriage and cheating husband; a new father experiences love at first sight with a younger woman; and a divorcée searching for true love deals with an obsessive stalker.
There is a little confusion over whether Jo’s new show is called True Love or Love Life, but it has begun filming in Margate recently. Doctor Who actor David Tennant was spotted on set and we have been given an interesting snippet of news on the films style.
The Dr Who actor was on the set of Love Life, a new drama for BBC One written and directed by the award-winning Dominic Savage – who grew up in the town.
The series, Love Life, represents a first for the BBC as the drama is made through improvisation.
Among other big names filming in Thanet were Billie Piper and Jenny Agutter.
Hopefully more news will follow shortly, this sounds like an interesting production so far!
There are very few movies around today which manage to successfully blend music and a story, let alone one which is filled with young a cast of British talent. But before you roll your eyes with disapproval, I would advise that you give ‘POWDER‘ a chance!
Adapted from Kevin Sampson‘s novel of the same name, the story centres on a band called The Grams, whose lead singer Keva (Liam Boyle) appears to have hit a songwriter’s block. Manager Wheezer (Alfie Allen) has tried every trick in the book to encourage Keva to get back in the recording studio. Whilst at a music festival, Keva bumps into Guy de Burret (Jefferson Hall) and he manages to persuade him to record another track. The band head on a journey of self-discovery, and troubled frontman attempts to hone in on his past experiences to produce a hit record. Unbeknown to Keva, this turns out to be more of a therapeutic return to the music scene, as he hopes to leave a terrible shadow behind him.
Tomorrow’s News caught up with two of the cast members – Liam Boyle and Jo Woodcock (who plays Victoria Turnbull), and Starsailor‘s James Walsh – who provided vocals for Keva and wrote the material for The Grams. With Walsh‘s fantastic vocals, I was keen to find out why he chose this as first movie project, and what the actors thought of some of the complex characters and their view on breaking into today’s music scene.
TN: Tell me about the characters you play in the movie.
LIAM: “I’m Liam Boyle, and I play Keva. He’s kind of the protagonist in the film.”
JO: “My name is Jo Woodcock and I play Victoria Turnbull. She is co-owner of the record label that Keva’s band The Grams are on.”
JAMES: “I’m James Walsh, and I provide the music in the film and Keva’s singing voice.”
TN: Liam, is it fair to say that Keva is very troubled – more so than your average musician?
LIAM: “I can relate to a lot of people who I’ve looked into over the years who have a troubled past, and Keva’s one of them. The thing about him is that he’s not suicidal at all, he’s just really depressed about something and he really wants to overcome this. The film really goes on a journey to kind of help him recover, but I tried not to model him on any musician out there today.”
First of all I would like to wish Jo a very happy belated birthday for the 9th September! I’d also like to congratulate her on landing a brand new role alongside David Tennant! Jo will play David Tennant’s daughter Lorraine in True Love, produced by Dominic Savages.
For Dr Who fans, this role will also reunite David Tennant with his former co-star Billie Piper! The production will be shown on BBC One, more information will follow as I find it.
In time for the premiere screening at Leicester Square tomorrow, two new Powder posters have been released and added to the gallery. Another screen has now been added due to popularity tomorrow night, so be sure to check the update below to find out how to buy a ticket!
A special screening of Powder has been announced in Leicester Square, London on 24th August. I’ve bought my tickets to see the film and the cast, get some yourself at the cinema’s website here!
The film will be released elsewhere on the 26th August and is rated 15.
It’s a pity that I have to write such a sombre update, but it turns out not all film magazines are good magazines. Powder‘s star Liam Boyle has drawn attention to a false review made in Total Film, which awards the movie 2 stars, and claims cameo appearances from stars such as Agyness Deyn. Fans of the franchise will be aware that Agyness does not star in the film, and this is information drawn from the internet.
Liam has posted a photograph of the shameful review here, and has expressed his outrage on twitter calling on all independent film fans to support Powder.
Let us hope that Total Film is shamed by this shocking shambles, I am simply amazed that a high profile magazine such as this can publish such work!
The review can also been seen online, http://www.totalfilm.com/reviews/cinema/powder-1 – please leave a comment and join us in supporting British Independent Film.
